Elite: Reclamation had been out for a few years and Drew had now been commissioned to write Elite: Premonition.
The idea from FDev was to have a book that actually took place in the game, not just a standalone book. Events would show up on Galnet, in FDevs streams, players would take part and the results would be novelised in Premonition.
At this point in the story, the Thargoids have started appearing, but we don’t have any confirmation on who or what they are. No one believes in the Thargoids for some reason. We know they’re real from Elite 1, 2 and 3, but the populous (according to Galnet) are convinced they are just stories from us “stupid spacers” and the politicians are saying the same thing too. Why? Galactic News: Soontill Alien Artefacts to be Auctioned at Ngurii

Soontill is back in the news this week as fresh rumours have surfaced of alien items hitting the market in Ngurii.
It’s been nearly two decades since Gallagher Restoration’s auction of Soontill relics was discovered to be merely an outrageous publicity stunt. Although many high profile individuals were left red faced after the Phekda auction, most notably the band Jjagged Bbanner, it seems people still want to believe in the Thargoid legend. Indeed, several familiar names have already come forward enquiring about the new finds.
What gives the latest rumours more credence than previous claims is the fact that the source of the alien items is not just one individual or one group, but several different lone wolf pilots.
Is this another hoax?, Another stunt?
Salomé, from Reclamation, has been out in the black exploring and has popped up on Galnet once or twice123.
We had just got Engineers and our SRVs.
So with all that said, Drew starts writing Elite: Premonition.
