The Zurara Megaship

So here we are, The Zurara Megaship1. You’ll find two sets of logs. By now I hope you’ve read/listened to all 7 of them. Logs first, Addtional Logs afterwards.

This was the first megaship ever in the game. The players had never seen one before when they got here. Plenty of megaships and generation ships have been added since, but this was the first.

It was also the first voice acted thing in the game. Galnet and lots of other ships again have it now, but this was the first time you’d seen that play button back then. In this case, by the wonderful Jay Britton (Frostpunk, Horizon, Divinity OS2, Pathfinder) and Amelia Tyler (Narrator – Baldur’s Gate 3, Nyrissa/Wenduag – Pathfinder, Malady – DOS2, Hecate – Hades 2).2 Those two are just ace. Met them at a convention when they acted out a scene from Drew’s books with Amelia as Salomé and Jay as Patreus. Swords and everything.

Freelance Report: Formidine Rift Discovery
27 APR 3303
A few days ago, a curious message was discovered by the Hamsters, a group of EM-transmission enthusiasts in the Tionisla system. A short time later, a combined effort from the Children of Raxxla and several other groups decoded the message and discovered it pointed to the Syreadiae JX-F c0 system in the so-called Formidine Rift.
Travelling to the system, pilots discovered a bulk cruiser called the Zurara. The ship’s logs painted a haunting picture, indicating that the ship’s crew sabotaged the vessel before killing themselves. The Zurara had been adrift in the system ever since.

Listened to and/or read everything? Right On, Commander…

Drew’s Footnotes

  1. As mentioned before, originally a wrecked Anaconda with text logs prior to me being commissioned to write Premonition. It was later upgraded… a bit cheeky… but since no one had found it, MB and I thought it was a great way to introduce megaships and voice acting into ED. ↩︎
  2. Jay and Amelia did an amazing job with this. It was a big deal at the time, with a lot of streamers covering the discovery. ↩︎
